Anim-Ha Indigenous Youth Supports the Presence of the New Autonomous Region in Papua
A group of Papuan youths who are members of the Anim Ha
Indigenous Youth have submitted their aspirations to the Indonesian House of
Representatives, as full support for The presence of the New Autonomous Region
in Papua. In fact, they also really want Timika to become the provincial
capital.
The submission of these aspirations was submitted directly
to the member of the Committee II of the DPR RI, Komarudin Watubun in Merauke,
Representative of the Anim Ha Indigenous Youth, Marius
Kateng, stated that his party's support was not without reason.
"In essence, we fully support the process of expanding
the New Autonomous Region (DOB) in Papua, namely South Papua, Central Papua and
Papua Central Mountains," said Marius.
However, the main factor that made his party insist that
Timika should be made the capital of Central Papua Province, because of the
readiness of infrastructure in the region.
"Timika is much better prepared than Nabire, in terms
of infrastructure, transportation and community readiness," he said.
His party also highlighted the existence of Freeport, which
will assist and synergize with the local government to make changes.
Marius further conveyed, by looking at the various dynamics
that occur, especially in Papua, his party is grateful for the expansion of new
autonomous regions and special autonomy that has been given by the central
government.
"Regarding the new autonomous regions, we are no
longer in the process of rejecting and accepting the new autonomous regions,
but furthermore, we strongly agree with the request for the capital city of
Central Papua Province to be in Timika," he said.
Papuan youths strongly support the expansion of the Papua
region, especially since Papua is known as a very large area with difficult
geographical conditions. The New Autonomous Region is the pure aspiration of the
Papuan people that has long been voiced. in other words, the expansion of
territory in Papua was a desire of the Papuan people.
Currently, the law related to regional expansion in Papua
Province was officially decided in the Plenary Session of the V Session of the
2021-2022 Session Year, on Thursday (30/6/2022) yesterday. The People's
Legislative Assembly officially passed three new autonomous regional laws into
law. All Papuan people happily welcomed the New Autonomous Region.
